I live in a village that feels like a little piece of heaven on earth. From here, I can witness the breathtaking beauty of nature in all its forms—majestic hills, flowing rivers, serene ponds, lush greenery, and vibrant fields. Even a national highway runs beside our village, connecting us to the world while keeping our peaceful essence intact.
From my village, I can see the towering mountains of Meghalaya, their peaks often kissing the clouds. Across the border, another country, Bangladesh, is visible, and so is the neighboring district of Cachar. A bridge connects our village with another settlement, and just beyond that lies the international border. A long canal stretches from the river to the wetland, adding to the charm.
Right in front of my home is a large wetland, crossed by a small sluice gate. Beside the village, the national highway hums with life, while the open fields in front of my house are a hub of activity—children playing, vegetables being cultivated, and a vibrant energy in the air. There are three big fisheries nearby, adding to the beauty and livelihood of the place.
Our village is a harmonious blend of communities, where Hindus and Muslims live together peacefully. We also have a Bhojpuri community, fondly called "Machhiya," who add to the diversity. A beautiful mosque, a school, and several Anganwadis complete our small but vibrant community.
Every corner of this village holds something special, and it’s no wonder I cherish the rural life. Perhaps it’s because I was born here, surrounded by nature’s wonders, that I feel no attraction to city life or its chaos. My village is my paradise, and its beauty and simplicity will forever hold my heart.
